Great restaurant!!!! Great food and great people. I am gonna go back there!!!!
fantastic food and wine, beautiful space
We had dinner here as part of our Valentine's Day celebration. The food and service were both amazing. I wish there were a Red Cow closer to where I live so that I could have a steak that good more often.
We love happy hour here and they have a great happy hour menu. It is a little on the expensive side.
Wow, words can't describe the experience we had at this place. Such a wonderful vibe, delicious food and outstanding desserts. Our server Emile provided the best customer service we ever experienced in a WA restaurant. 100 stars.
Not a good dining experience. Service was terrible, had to ask for things multiple times. Food took a really long time to arrive. Tables that ordered after us received their food before us. Steak was undercooked, chicken was bland and flavorless. We have dined here at least 10 times with mixed results, but never bad enough to write it off until tonight. No manager visit to our table, just a server that couldn't wait to get us out of there as soon as possible. With all of the restaurants in Seattle, save yourselves a bad evening.
Great fries. Burger was cooked as though it was a steak. Perfect line of pink in the middle.
The positives: great ambiance, friendly servers, and the fries were excellent. But at least on this Friday night, everything took forever. By the time our entrées arrived, the steaks were barely room temperature. We would have loved a second glass of wine but never had the chance to order before it was too late. Food is good here, but service needs figuring out in a bad way.
Very straightforward. Nice cuts of meat quite correctly prepared and served. Good sides and apps. On the noisy side. Fairly efficient service cranks Dennis) with a sturdy bar and fairly priced wine by the glass.
Great steaks :) Somewhat casual but nice design and smooth service. Mussels, bone marrow, charcuterie, steak tartare, etc were great. Sides were also very tasty. Best Fries in Seattle hands down. Wines were reasonable. A bit out of the way in Madrona but well worth a trip.
Wonderful experience during restaurant week in Seattle at Red Cow. Love the upscale French bistro vibe and the unique menu you can’t find at other Ethan Stowell restaurants! The cider pork cheeks and moules frites were absolutely yummy and definitely can’t wait to try again when it’s off restaurant week.
Sunday brunch was sooooo delicious. I brought 10 of my friends here for a birthday brunch after a long night out in the city. We ordered most of the menu, and everyone was very happy with their food. The manager was very kind and even provided a free pastry platter with a candle for my birthday.
Dined here at Red Cow November 2018 during impromptu Thanksgiving visit to family. The restaurant was simply decorated, nice atmosphere for dinner. Staff was attentive and friendly. Ordered Marinated olives, Mesclun greens, Chicken liver mousse, Parisian gnocchi, Moules frites (mussels), and steak frites. The cherry compote was perfect pairing with the chicken liver mousse. Fresh mussels were delicious we ordered another. The steak (forgot which cut) was big and perfectly cooked. Since we were full, we shared the profiterols (gingerbread cream puffs) with pumpkin fillings. They did not look that pretty in picture, and the flavor was strange. Overall, a very good meal with good service.
We went for the dine around Seattle. Reservations are a must. The menu was exceptional. We did the special prim rib for two. It was excellent. This place is a gem. Would go back for sure.
Neighborhood restaurant with a lovely, intimate ambience. Food is tasty, and happy hour selections are reasonably priced
But those cocktails, damn!
Great place. Love their happy hour.
Good food, excellent Happy Hour for Food and drink. Cozy and friendly
We had the most amazing meal here! Book in early as this place gets busy. The food and service were both impeccable!
The best place in Madrona to get dinner! Amazing service and great food. I celebrated my birthday there with a group of 8 and they took such good care of us. Everyone was very happy with their food - we ordered steaks and burgers. I’m definitely gonna be back!
Nice outdoor spot with good cocktails and nice wines. Steak was a bit tough, sadly. Nobody's fault.
Really phenomenal food and service. Great steaks, a refreshing take on happy hour, quality side dishes and great staff. Recommend taking transit as parking is always a bit tricky in this area.
Wonderful atmosphere, it screams contemporary Seattle restaurant. Great food and our server was very attentive! She even gave us a complimentary scoop of sorbet. For the quality of food and service, the prices were very reasonable. Highly recommend going here.
Amazing food and great service! We just loved our server and the food was perfect. We had the saffron mussels and filet mignon, there was great wine selection, and the melted chocolate pudding (mousse) was fantastic. Worth every penny.
Lovely restaurant. Delicious food. Great happy hour. They always have something new for apps. Last time I enjoyed the rabbit. The steak frites are always amazing!
The food was quite good but i found it unpleasantly loud and a bit slow. If i went again I'd try to either get an outside table (picnic bench?) or go during a less popular time.
Happy hour has hearty portions, great prices, and delicious of course!
Another Ethan Stowell restaurant that doesn't disappoint. This one is a little more classic French steakhouse. The charcuterie is all prepared and cured in house. We tried the head cheese, beef tongue, and smoked veal breast. All very delicious down to the homemade pickled vegetables and croutons. The frisée salad was classic and good, but could have use a touch more acid and less fat. The steaks were great and cooked very well, albeit served a bit closer to room temperature than we would have liked. We understand the meat has to rest and the kitchen is busy, but they should have been re-fired in the broiler prior to service. Be mindful that they cook their steaks to true steakhouse temperature and not your everyday restaurant. Medium rare is a true MR and probably closer to rare than most people would enjoy. Would probably give this ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2 but would round up.
The burger I had was absolutely amazing!!!
Such a good time fine food served in a stylish way. The Marrow bone is the most amazing dish there is! The best in all of seattle
Easy to book for brunch on weekends since its in the financial district. My friend got a steak medium rare and it was perfectly done and well seasoned. I got the duck salad with a fried egg on top. Pretty good and filling but light for brunch.
Looking for a delicious experience that is located in the heart of Madrona?!? Red Cow 🐄 has it all! This place has an uber, cozy neighborhood vibe and the ambience reminds me of a restaurant that I was at while in New York. Our meal was absolutely delicious and psst, if you are a beet lover, these golden lil nuggets are soooooo savory yet flavorful! #Imverybeetful
Delicious food. Our server, Ryan, was excellent. He made perfect recommendations and made our evening extra special.
Delicious steak frites, amazing salads and vegetables, and very friendly service.
SERVICE: Not impressed. My two girlfriends and I arrived shortly after 5p (for dinner), and the hostess assumed we were there for Happy Hour..not in a friendly way, but what seemed like an assuming “y’all don’t look you can afford this spot” way. Were I the only one to get that vibe, I’d let it pass... but my more level-headed gals present confirmed the same vibes. FOOD: Decent ribeye and wagyu (Ascend in Bellevue has way better quality Wagyu), though it’s not anything special. Pommes frites + aioli and salads weren’t bad, again nothing special. OVERALL: This Ethan Stowell resto wasn’t up to par. I received better service at Goldfinch Tavern... and during Seattle Restaurant Week no less, when you get dishes for a fraction of the cost. They say the customer service experience can influence the taste of a dish, a first time visit—Red Cow, your hostess tainted this experience.
I've only been for happy hour a few times but this place is so good. I'd love to come for an actual dinner sometime soon. The HH steak brochettes and muscles are great.
I enjoyed the appetizers, especially the bone marrow and gem salad. What I disliked were the main courses of steak. I got a rib eye and it was very tough. I was hoping it would be tender. The culotte was also not very tender despite being described as so by our server. We would rather spend our money on steak elsewhere. The restaurant itself is very cozy and seats plenty. We did not have trouble making a reservation.Alternative steak houses that I highly recommend are Asadero Ballard or Butcher's Table.
sunday vibes
Quaint neighborhood spot for elevated eats. Bustling with activity, service was very good. Food was French leaning and well prepared. Beef tartare, brussels, beets, and cheese to start. All the steaks in the group were perfectly prepared and the fries on-point. Cons: Was a bit on the pricey side, can't order a bottle of wine? and the beer glasses are TINY! But I'd go back for sure!
I feel like the stairs aren't as good as they once were.
